Put one of the doors on the other day with the new alloy hinges, to see how things lined up. Not too bad but a couple of issues were highlighted!
The door fouls on the short section of the hinges. We looked at the old hinges and they have a small cut out to allow for full movement of the door so some slight modification is needed. Secondly, the door seems slightly small for the aperture -the gap at the front is largish and can live with that but the gap at the rear seems way too big. Not sure what we're going to do with it at the moment.
We're generally happy with the alignment and have fitted some turnbuckles and wires which have worked very well and pulled the bottom of the door flush with the body - a problem that is commonly seen with these.
Today we got chance to do a little bit more on the car. It's taken quite a bit of work to get the rear panel flat again. It did have Chevette rectangular rear lights in and was quite warped. Holes now cut and the new rear lights test fitted - very happy with the way they look!
