Thanks to all who came and wished us well. It was a great event and the car never missed a beat apart from horrendous drivetrain vibration that shook so badly i coudnt focus properly and got forearm cramp 2 laps from end. Needed pain tablet relief when i got back to pits. We think its cv related as to severe to be tyre!!

I also managed to get within half a second of the master so was pleased. I was also pleased when he praised how the car was prepared and how it performed.

Goodwood also knicked our minivan for the weekend as theirs broke so we never saw it again until we were leaving, but apparently was circulating through the day

Ahhh yes The Prof, still got it hasn't he ? Did he invite you to one of his ice driving schools , looks alot of fun ! Shame for Whizz , he was on for a win there.

Well done Andy and the team.... what a weekend.
Your van was up by Lavant one minute and then by the tunnel next... looked good.

How idiotic of BMW to stick their car full of modern stripes and sponsor/partner stickers.. So completely out of place in an event like the Goodwood Revival.

Makes it even sweeter to learn that their car failed to shine

I think Stevie Wonder did the graphics on that car, awful roundels and numbers, they look they've been to halfords to get them...

Good show Andy. I popped by to say 'Hi' but missed you each time. Took a few photos of the car in action each day, and will post them when I've had a chance to go through them later in the week.

I did laugh that each time i visited the pits your car, the Swiftune one AND and the RDR green one had their bonnets shut and looking calm and untroubled, apart from a bit of polishing whilst the BMW one seemed to require a lot of legs and backsides to be poking out under the bonnet!

There were 5 Minis out. Roger Godfrey not on top form but he just needs to head the class to keep at the top of it if he wants to win the championship again. I was catching him in the race but only because his front subframe front left hand bolt had become detached so the handling was a bit random, so we finished 9th and 10th , outclassed by several Imps

Hi Vegard,

This is a laser cut then machined aluminium retainer we produced, which prevents the hub nut from coming loose, an experience which cost us a couple of results after the split pin sheared and the nut came undone.....

No problems since and fitted to three Minis we have built.

So, where do I place the order?

I've raced the entire season without the split pin to be honest. When everything is toqued correctly, should you really need the pin? (Off topic, please move to another section)

Now heres a thought! Why dont we all give the BMW guys a break, and maybe moral support, this is the first time that they have recognised the true heritage of the Mini in over 10 years of production. They seem to be very enthusiastic and this can only be seen as a good thing! BMW have a great sporting background, and they dont seem to be claiming to be Mini experts overnight, they are learning by their mistakes as we all do. I say well done to them for their efforts so far, and good luck in the future. We are all Mini enthusiasts after all eh! Steve....

I too think we should support BMW's effort here. Not a great car yet but it will get better and whilst I too thought the paint job was unpleasant, it does mimic their MINI challenge race style, so I can see why they did it. As for the car itself, being so convincingly beaten by Swiftune and the others, they must appreciate they have a lot to learn - and learn they will. You never know, in the future they may be on the front of the grid and everyone will be keen to find out how they did it - they may even start to sell quality classic Mini parts. Now that would be worth supporting.

Speaking from personal experience in Mini racing it is rare to not have teething problems with a brand new car and a new team with clearly a lot to learn,...........as others have said its good to see BMW Classic now making the effort and despite the possible language problems it would be nice to show them most British Mini racing enthusiasts are a friendly and helpful bunch, even to potential future competition........rather than laughing at misfortunes or mocking their inexperience or different taste in paint job graphics.

Hang on a minute. I wasn't mocking them, merely commenting on how well prepared the other cars were.

Yes, you get teething problems with new cars and misfortune can befall anyone at a race meeting.

What I said was a compliment to Andy, RDR and Swiftune.

So before you draw negative inferences from perfectly well meaning observations, how about we not only give BMW a break, but also me! They are out there racing, so good on them.

The 'laughter' was purely based on the fact that 3 grown men trying to work under one mini bonnet in a hurry IS quite funny!

I suspect that your assumption that I was knocking the BMW entry probably says more about your thought process than mine. Me? I'm a 'glass half full' kind of guy.
