Their main garage was in Dorchester and there was another outlet in Weymouth.
Thanks. I go to Dorchester quite often so will do some digging.

I see David Mylchreest & his Son James when I go over to the IOM for the Hillclimb. David grew up surrounded by all sorts of exotic Minis as BMC often lent them cars for promotion & as course cars for the TT.

Mylchreest's were BMC / BL dealers right to the end but are agents for a whole variety of cars nowadays.

I often walk past the impressive University of Worcester 'Art House' - which used to be 'Austin House', the H A Saunders dealership where my Mini was originally sold.

Following on from Pete's picture of Oliver Rix in Lancaster, here is a view taken from roughly the same spot, but much earlier, looking further down the road which is King Street.
The garage on the left is Loxhams who were Austin, the one on the right is Barton Townleys who were also Austin at the time I think.

When the Oliver Rix garage was Barton Townleys, it was their Ford showroom (they also had a Vauxhall and Standard Triumph in the same sort of area). After Oliver Rix it was CD Bramall Rover then a furniture shop with snooker hall above. Then it was flattened in 2018-2019 and is now a fast food place with student accommodation above (don't get me started!). The Barton Townley garage is now KFC but does retain some of its original features.

I worked for CD Bramall's in 1988/89 in this very dealership, I even got a works van from them for towing my stage Mini ! (see the van door name)

all sorts of nooks and crannys with parts going back years and years, and i remember well the old brown panelled board room

used to be able to get loads of deck chairs in the back of that LDV for the service crew !, youd get locked up for that today !!

That's a scene from 'The Champions' episode 'To Catch A Rat', filmed in early '68 I think and shown in November, about pesky drug dealers in London ;)
