We were in Otago at Easter, wonder what the local coppers thought of going from a Valiant to a Mini?
Probably thought they were a lot easier to park in town for one and much easier for nipping around some of those very hilly streets you find in Dunedin too .
My brothers Police Minivan above being used on location in Muswell Hill, London for the filming of a new 3-Part ITV drama about serial killer Dennis Nilsen.
David Tennant will play Nilsen also known as the 'Muswell Hill Murderer' in the three-part ITV series, titled Des, which will follow his trial.
Des will air on ITV in 2020. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-ente ... 14831.html
1967/1968 registrations (CA Denbighshire and JC Caernarfonshire) so Gwynedd Constabulary which was formed from Anglesey, Caernarfonshire, Merionethshire Constabularies in the ‘50s with Flintshire and Denbighshire Constabularies joining in 1967.
Anoraks note, my father had a 1968 Humber Sceptre registered GJC 300G registered in Caernarfon!

Looks a bit like Postman Pat's van with the Barton hardtop...

That's so cool. Not only is it cool your brother's minivan was used, but I'm actually interested in show too. I like Tennant a lot.

I've seen a photo of a police Moke with a Barton hardtop down that part of the country taken in moorland, and seem to recall something about it being used on Broadmoor. Is that Devon? maybe for rounding up rustled sheep or escaped convicts.

Edit - this is the one I was thinking of: https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auct ... mini-moke/ which mentions Scilly and Broadmoor. but there are a couple of other photos of the moke with the hardtop on line.
Al
That Moke's got a Somerset registration from June 1969, so is the Devon and Cornwall Police story a myth?
OKD 697F has been mentioned and shown in photos a few time on these 18 pages. A long time ago it was in one of the two major Mini magazines -- Mini World I think. By the time the article was published the car had already been sold and was on its way to the U.S. in Florida. It wasn't there long. I bought it and have had it for going on 17 years in the other side of the country near Seattle, Washington.
I used to go to the Scillies a lot as a child and have friends there. This pic looks correct (from memory at least) and I think that is one of the donkeys we used to ride on Porthcressa beach, which is literally around the corner from there. It is Church St. next to the park I think. Google pic is the best I can do, but the houses just out of sight to the right of the pic have the kinds of railings and bay windows seen in the Moke picture. The tall white house in the distant right is a dead giveaway too.
When Harold Wilson (Prime Minister for any young folk) came over each summer extra police and kit came over, so that's a possibility?
