Bit late but Happy Fathers Day. With the local classic car show being rained off I decided to treat dad to another Sunday afternoon in the garage, this time removing underseal from the inside of the bonnet, nasty nasty nasty job...

I decided to treat dad to another Sunday afternoon in the garage, this time removing underseal from the inside of the bonnet, nasty nasty nasty job...

What more could any father want! :D

Not posted anything for a while so I thought I'd take a quick snap last night. The chassis is 95% there so we've turned our attention again to the body, the doors are taken quite a while turning them from fifty pence shaped pieces of glassfibre to something that resembles something more substantial. Note the gazebo spray booth to the right. The plan is for us to do as much donkey work as possible then take it to a grownup to apply the final colour.

The thing I like most about your pictures Andy is that it is always your willing workforce who are doing everything :)

Yes that right, this is a photo of the very rare time I open the rear garage door and let me dad have some much needed fresh air and natural light! :)

Last update for 2019. The last few months have mainly been spent sorting the body.

Last night was the last evening in the garage for 2019, we finally stuck the top to the tub using a fancy 3M product (thanks Stu!) and 'icing' fibreglass into the bigger gaps....

The plan for Jan/Feb is to get the body in final primer ready to send off for final paint. I'm looking into maybe getting the exhaust manifold ceramic coated too to try and reduce under bonnet temperatures, anyone recommend a company to use?

I looked at Zircotec. There are lots of others tho as it's a popular thing to do on Superbikes these days.

hi andy
how do you stop the rear hubs from rear wheel steering as the unipower gt has the same sort of set up and i am curious as to what is the best way to do this

Roger, the early Cox used a tie rod from the steering arm to the subby, this was found to be flexing when pushing on, so they changed to the reverse wishbone system, which is frankly not much better! Alan Britton at Rossabitz has developed a better version of the tie rod system, that is what most GTM owners now convert to.

Wow just realised how long its been since I updated this thread, to say quite a bit has happened since then is an understatement :)

A few months ago I decided that it was probably best if Tim and Chris at Whights finished the prep work on the body and also did the top coat. Over the last few weeks they've been sending updated photo of all the areas they've adjusted to be more inline with their standards, but doing it in a nice enough way not to offend me ;)

Underside painted/raptor the same colour as the tub, the outer will be Speedwell Blue...

Over lockdown I've been following the amazing work of Paul Wiginton on Instagram, he made some window runners from alloy for his super light Mini. I noticed he'd made a set for a customer so approached him to see if he could make some but a few inches longer for my GTM, a few days later these arrived, very very impressed...

Looking good!
The runners look excellent don't they? Was thinking about seeing if he could do some slightly shorter ones for my Unipower.
Keep posting the updates on the Cox as looks like it will be fantastic when done.
