Workshop lighting

Post by Beatie »

Just replaced the old school 5ft fluorescent lighting with some LED strips and god they make a difference , my workshop now looks like close encounters of a 3rd kind
I’ve used 3 off 55w ones but sure there’s others on the market which are the same at 6500lm ?
Welding is now going to be a hell of a lot easier , you don’t realise how poor the lighting you have been using is until you upgrade .
40 quid a pop also makes it affordable and well worth doing
Well happy

+1 for LEDs

I installed LED shop lights a year ago in my garage. My intent was to have brighter light faster. My old fluorescent lights were dim and slow to warm up, particularly in winter. The LEDs are instant-on and nicely bright.

LEDs are a great option, though many people don't have enough workshop lighting in general.

When building out my attached garage workshop, there was no lighting when I moved in. Found a stack of old office flourescent lights (the type with 4 long bulbs per unit), and installed over a dozen of them all over the ceiling, and hardwired to a normal lightswitch. It's lit up like high-noon in there, even at midnight!

Much easier to work in a comfortable environment where you can see.

Polar S, Just an idea, have a look at the Twin LED Lamps on a Tripod. We use them in the Building game (im a Carpenter).

The LEDs are so much better than the old Halogen ones. Nice White light also and cheap to run.

I think they would be ideal to use under a lift....put them where you like.

I can't recommend these 6ft LED strip lights from Mark enough, I fitted 4 in my double garage a year or so ago, fantastic!
