Edinburgh lass Michaelle Burns-Grieg got the racing bug after watching Christabel Carlisle
show the boys how to do it in the early 60s and so ordered a new Mini Cooper in 1963 and
had it delivered straight to Downton Engineering for preparation. Whilst there ,the Downton
workshops were surrounded by the police who searched the car looking for the loot from
the Great Train Robbery! All explained by the fact that Michaelle was the then girlfriend of
promising racing driver and soon to be infamous getaway driver Roy James!

Radford 'S' demonstrator for sale , 50 years ago..

That car still survives, and the other one in shot (KLU) is in the same reg sequence as two S estates Radford converted at the same time which came to light when the ex owner showed me his old pics of it a few years ago. Very cool car or what?

No need, and no biggy at all. On the other hand Classic & Sportscar nicked loads of my quotes in an article on 'oddball' racing Minis recently, but then got some of it completely arse over tit. I even had a very well repected writer send me an article about Vita a couple of years ago and when I read it I soon realised half the words were mine nicked off Mark's website. Sh*t happens, and some of the stuff Ive published years ago was wrong anyway.

Just sold a car to a guy who hailed from the Bolton area originally, ran a succesful tyre operation there, his name is David Thistlethwaite, and was part of Ecurie Cod Fillet

he brought these pics in today , i just photographed them off my phone, but just nice period pics !

1st batch are the 67 Coupe des Alpes running in group 1, still with hub caps !
