Mmmmmm bolloxs
Any ideas folks? I just took my bean out and pulling out of a junction and it felt like it jumped out of gear and lost drive!!? Now if feels like it selects gears and the clutch is depressing but no drive!? It ticks over fine no nasty noises!?
Any ideas? It's running a ultra light flywheel, orange diaphragm, straight cut drops, quiafe atb diff, straight cut CWP straight cut box new drive shafts etc.. Its all new stuff? Ffs... One thing after another!
Any thoughts greatly welcomed!
Cheers chris

I had a similar thing twice. Does it make a bit of a grinding noise when in gear and you’re trying to drive it?
1 st time sheared all the splines on the clutch or it could have been the primary gear.
2 nd time sheared all the splines on one of the drive flanges.
I’d check the drive flanges first. Good luck

Just thinking the same thing though normally there'd be the accompanying noise of the shaft still turning.medwaybeat wrote: I’d check the drive flanges first. Good luck

Drive flange makes sence with the quaife, as it might act like a wheel picking up.. hence loosing drive.. Yeh it does make a bit of a noise.. Nothing like a shaft though... Mmmm

Is the speedo still working when you have it in gear with the clutch out? If its a problem within the diff the mainshaft [and therefore the speedo] would still be turning, If you have no speedo the problem lies elsewhere.

Put it in gear and look at the drive shafts, if they are turning the problem is with the hubs, if they are not turning I suggest you dismantle the clutch, if its not here its an engine out job, hope its a simple fix.

Re: Mmmmmm bolloxs
all good advice above, all i would add is dont just rush and put it in gear and start looking for the fault.
make sure its well chocked and that you have the means to stop it quickly if it suddenly finds the means to drive again.
running yourself over would probably put a lid on a bad day!

I haven't yet decided to investigate the problem but I was just wondering is it a common thing to sheer of the pinion gear on a A series box? As begining to wonder if that's whats happened?
Cheers

The flywheel hasn't come loose has it?
Mine came loose once and selected gears fine but obviously wouldn't drive. The revs did drop dramatically when the clutch was depressed though.

Re: Mmmmmm bolloxs
Mainshaft nut come undone and the pinion gear has slipped out of mesh with the crownwheel?
It will still engage gear and the speedo with work but there'll be no drive. I've seen this happen on a Metro in the past.

It happened to me once! A new lockwasher and a dose of Wurth threadlock did the trick.

Hello,
I've not touch the mini since it balls up, so yesterday I decided I would tidy my garage out to make a start on it. So I pushed it out and did my tidying up. Whist it was out, I thought I'd fire it up as I'd not heard it for a while, anyway I sat in it and to my shock it actually drove!? What's going on!!!? Aliens!!?
Haha, I don't think it's fix really but I'm a bit flummoxed by it.. Can I rule out pinion gears? Clutch area? When it happened I ask my brother who was with me to check that it was moving the clutch arm and he said it was.. It was just like a mini with a dodgy 2nd syncro, it just jumped out as I was pulling away, then wouldn't drive!? So i pushed it home and shoved it the garage until yesterday..
Any ideas now!? With that in mind!
I've thought that it could be the plunger getting stuck in the housing, master cylinder acting like a one way valve.. God only knows!

Or the hose ?? have seen this before, a piece of rubber blocks the hose,
and the clutch arm wont return.
