Back to the '68 pr so mini on fire on the Tyne Bridge. If that was today, the local police, Highways agency and those Highways police in the black and yellow land rovers et at would have the bridge closed for 12 hours. That tape stuff and cones in place from Shiney Row to Wallsend. Structural engineers swarming all over the bridge decking and underside, metallurgy specialists testing the girder strength above to make sure nothing has been hareden - or tempered - or annealed by the heat and....... and......... You can see it already!

6RW was an Austin Mini, here parked outside the Triumph Factory at Canley.

Of course, 6RW is now on some Porsche thing.

I was a teenager in the late '70s, so two-strokes were high on the agenda for play ground banter.

There's a young lad who lives not far from me with a beige Mk1 Golf!

Another '70s screen grab with a bit of Mini content, Olly Reed in 'Revolver' with a wee Mk1 Austin 850 with those odd looking French bull bars...

On a similar Oliver Reedie theme, heres a great Mini Moke sequence from an almost totally forgotten 60's classic "The Jokers".

See the whole sequence here.

Anyone remember the Mini below which occasionally featured in the CHiPs TV show (1977-1983) about the adventures of two California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers? Here in the UK as a young Mini enthusiast it was a big surprise at the time to see a Mini driving around in California on a US tv show.
I seem to remember Ponch (Erik Estrada) used to call Jon Bakers (Larry Wilcox) Mini a shoebox!
I wonder if that Mini still exists?

Another great Moke Shot here.

Bonus point if you can recognise the band in it.
