Silverstone Classic - U2TC & Masters
Will any of you good gentlemen be attending ?
We're going the whole hog and making a small holiday of it. We are heading down Wednesday night for the Test day on Thursday, followed by the Qualifying on Friday and the races on Saturday
We have an entry in the U2TC race and are currently discussing the Mini Race with Masters - but we have issues around the Scheduling and may have to miss Race 1 in Masters.

Re: Silverstone Classic - U2TC & Masters
My usual Co-driver Paul Tarry will be doing the two Masters Races....my 970 chassis his 1293 engine as I am a bit late in finishing his car.
Now fitted with correct CWP which hampered us at the Brands GP circuit meeting and also some set up changes so hopefully should be more competitive.

I'm afraid I'm looking very dodgy for the weekend. I will probably knock this one on the head and go for Donington ('haven't given up yet, though!)

I'll be there again this year. The Sunbeam Tiger has now been sold so this year I will be going in a 68 Alfa Romeo Giulia. Nice.

I had a great time, was there through my brother as part of the Abarth 500 championship. Racing was sublime by all who raced in every class. A fantastic weekend, I saw some of the most amazing macinery. Great atmosphere and very friendly completitors.

Dunno - I kept seeing Motors TV guys crawling all over the place - but not sure what that meant in terms of airtime as when you look at their Schedule it hasn't appeared anywhere as far as I am aware !!!
Here's some snaps !!!

Re: Silverstone Classic - U2TC & Masters
Yep brings back memories and made me realised how frustrating Race 1 was after a good Qualifying
On the first lap I went into Maggots side by side with the big A105 and got bounced onto the curb and grass, I tried my damdest to keep him behind me before the complex to hold him off to the end of the hanger straight but to no avail !!! Then on Lap 5 the Mark II Jag's rear wheel fell off at Becketts and about 5 mini's that were behind spread all over the place - I made a poor decision and then lost all my momentum and was swallowed up down the hanger straight by the Zephyr running behind me. So I got stuck behind the Zephyr peddled by Tony Dron that didn't make one error and just infront about 4 Mini's were stuck behind the Westminster !
The Second race was slightly more fun, after a disastorous first lap where I made several poor decisions and lost about 5 places to the 50's saloons, I dusted myself down and had great fun getting back past the A40, Zephyr, A105 and A35. Only then did I get one lap of free space to start trying to get the hammer down - albeit slkightly too late as all the other Mini's ha cleared off and had their own battle - BUM !
A fantastic weekend though, shame we had some problems with the U2TC race but still had a great time. Thanks to Andy for all the help with the radiator and nice to see Tim out there in Car 34.
Now I have to come down to earth and get back to reality !!!!

Re: Silverstone Classic - U2TC & Masters
Great pics mate and your more than welcome for the help. Was great to see Tim Harber out in his mini as i have raced with Tim for a few seasons and is a great bloke to have around the paddock.Really enjoyed the racing even though second race was a little frustrating as the pack had got away by the time i had got past the big Austin.
My next event is the Gold cup and Whizzo is sharing the car so a few car issues to sort out to make car more to his liking

Be nice to do a club stand one year but the 'pay to display' policy ain't helping.

Andy,
Thanks for posting the photographs, I wish you had introduced yourself as I would have liked to thank you in person for the copies of those brochures you sent me.
Maybe at Donington at the beginning of September?
Regards,
Mike
