does anyone know much about this head?
its supposed to be a GT, and only good for an 850, which is good as i only own an 850 here is the link
I'm only schooled as much as what i can find on Marks site.
i'm trying to figure out if its Ok and what its worth.
never argue with a fool, they'll only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience
If it is a new old stock head, judging by the chambers shape, it doesn't look like a GT head to me. Looks more like a Clubman head.
The thick metal plate at the left end of the head seems to be missing.
The one pictured above isn't the one one for sale on Ebay, the guy has posted it to demonstrate the different between the GT and Clubman head.
The head one Ebay looks like a great buy and being NOS shouldn't have any of the usual problems of busted studs, damaged spark plug threads and the threads pulling out of the head under the rocker pillars. Obviously it will need valves which may be an issue. be good to see another one back up and running.
i haven't even bid yet, i never bid before the last few minutes. otherwise i'm just pushing up the price for no reason.
and i figured that i might be able to find a better one through contacts on here.
guess i'll have to wait until mark gets back and see what he knows of.

It looked like a modified GT head to me, the valve sizes were GT, but the chamber shape was more Clubmanish.
That makes me wonder if it had something wrong with it that caused someone to stop modifying this new head.
The price it went for is ludicrous for a supposedly NOS head that has obviously been modified. With no valves, springs or anything else for that matter. In my opinion it would have been a reasonable buy at around £350.
I do newly restored ones that are ready to fit for the money this casting went for.
I think I have 1 Speedwell head thats awaiting restoration at the mo.
