Well a host of excellent & well turned out Minis @ Silverstone today.. it was Interesting to watch Qualifying with me situated near the Wing .. i could see some light push & shove happening at Club Corner with some drivers getting more brave as the session went on .. with a possible Wet Race & some red mist tomorrow i wonder how may cars will finish the Race
Silverstone said some Minis were pulling 110mph thro the Wellington Straight speed trap in qualifying

Was shocked to see how Silverstone Recover Minis off the track with a RecoveryTruck fitted with the Crane & Spreader beam .. to lift the Mini on & off the Truck .. open Both Mini Doors & fix their lifting sling to the lower front of rollcage & another Lifting Sling positioned at the top rear area of the open Mini Doors with the Top most Roll Cage Bar taking the cars weight & the Recovery truck Lifting Beam stopping the Slings from crushing the Minis Roof Gutters .. yes recover a F1 Car this way but not a way to treat a broken down app K Mini in my opinion.

There is a onboard that was somehow streamed live from Endafs pole sitting car on Owens Fabrications Facebook page. Sounded like his engine went sick before the start of the 66 touring car race though.

Looked under the bonnet of UP U2 & the Fan Blade is just a piece of "Flat Plate" bolted to the waterpump making a 2 Blade Fan that will only stir the air & please the Race Scrutineer ..but this 2 blade fan device would not push air through the radiator. :?:
Swifty H/Power saving device me-thinks & will make taking out the Radiator so easy .. but what is the secret to keeping the Swiftune "UP U2" Race Temp Cool . (Peter will say Waterless Coolant )

(Whatever it must be an original BMC Fan because its fitted on an Appendix K Mini )

I think driving above 30 mph the fan doesn’t really contribute much - most of the cooling comes from the dam of air pressure coming through the front grille being forced out through the radiator.

Could be the answer as they are timed at over 110 mph down Silverstone Wellington Straight.

Wandering round the paddock, all minis use same, non original master cylinders, any ideas what they are?

They are a compact AP Racing remote cylinder with the reservoir attached via solid fittings rather than a hose.

I guess operation is exactly the same as standard. The quality of original replacement parts is questionable as well all know, on the HRDC A35’s everybody was forced to using stock cylinders and there was a number of issues with badly leaking reservoirs, failed cylinders and even been supplied the wrong cylinders as part of the kit!

Wandering through Silverstone yesterday i came across the BMH Gaydon Stand .. on show the development 6R4 & 33 EJB .
BMH have now wrecked 33 EJB with a fresh painted "Gloss Black" Number Plate Backing on the Bonnet .. i always thought the Patina of the original black backing on 33 EJB Number Plate was a great feature that is now lost due to modernisation

Like this? Looks like most of it had already been polished away by the early ‘90s.Image
