you can use a blank filter back plate and a sausage filter (like on the minispares injection kit) and it fits under a standard bonnet.

I take that back, I've just looked back and I had to take metal out of the slam panel to make it work.

Is there any possibility to shorten the inlet manifolds? They are very thick at the connections...
I promise i won't buy another MkI...

So! Another busy weekend!

I managed with my panelbeater to get thot beautifully crafted Airbox! The bonnet just got minor modifications so it will close and from outside you just see nothing!

The bonnet is now secured by two works style leather straps.

The Box is connected with a Hose to a modified Automatic Aifilter Housing wich now has a nice K&N Filter element inside.

I would like to calculate the HP capacity of this Filter Element. Does anyone knows the formula?

hi a guy here in australia had a simular set up but used dellorto pumper carbs like ducatis have went very well just a thought i remember him trying to sell it to me for my old mk1 a long time ago

After trying to set up the carbs and not arriving to a satisfactory result, i decided to go for a Weber
Setup.

The tread from an other forum member gave me hope to build up a setup that works...

Here the first pics of the manifold build.

you will need to put some spacers to isolate the heat transfer so there is no problem with that side of things i am using 4 idf webbers on the rover v8 for my unipower gt replica
amals were a pain to tune especially those concentrics thats why that guy used the dellortos

After a very busy week at work before Christmas, i found some spare time to continue my manifold.

It took an awful time to get the holes right the first time.

With the flanges set up and the tubes formed from 40mm to 30mm it only needs a good weld tomorrow...

Have you checked the clearance to no 3 plug?

Not yet. But there is enough space between the tubes and enough flesh on the manifold to finetune it.

Once it's welded and face-grinded i will modify if needed to get to the spark plug...

After welding the tubes on the head side, it was skimmed to suit and make an even base...

So finally i got this thing working!

After the second flange for the webers was welded, whe put it on the mill again and skimmed both plates to reduce length and getting a smooth straight surface.

Back at home i managed to refit the manifold. It needed some fine tuning to get access to the nr 4 sparkplug. i then modified both carbs to put them as close together as possible.

With the fuel line connected the engine fired up first time with a big roaring from the Webers!

Tomorrow i will connect the both carbs together and connect the throttle cable.

I guess the bonnet needs some modifications now...

I give a big thank to thomas who was very helpful with his pictures and information and my mates at work helping me with the weld and mill!

bonnets just have to make life just that little bit more complicated a bit of head stratching and a cuppa and the solution will appear and all will look great a really well sorted job
