PERFORMANCE FIGURES FOR 737 ABL ABINGDON 997

Post by SMOKE GREY »

I was going through some paperwork and came across some notes. Twenty years ago I did a build sheet replica of ABL, Bill Price very kindly sent me a copy of the build sheet for ABL for the Tulip rally in 1963, I let the build sheet go with the car  but I have some notes. No rolling road at Abingdon then so performance testing was done on the stopwatch/tools at the side of the road. Always thought the figures were pretty good. Car was Group 2 with a Weslake modified head, 9.7:1 CR, H4 carbs , 4.1 diff, standard 2A948 cam.

Max revs in top gear 7100 rpm - 94 mph

0-60 mph (rolling start) 9.6 seconds

40 - 60 mph 3rd gear 7.9 seconds
