Mk1 S recent purchase cylinder head quetion

Post by uncle 997 »

Hi All.

Recently purchased a 67 mk1 S in bits.
The car was stripped in the early 80's and partially restored.
All the rare S parts are with the car and I will restore it back to concourse condition.
The cylinder head has been ported and has big valves etc.
It is a 940 casting with 12g 1805 in the usual place, but on the back of the head just under the centre exhaust port it has RTC 127 stamped on the mating face.

Does anyone recognise the stamping code and identify possibly which company ported it ?

Think that head wasn't fitted until the MK3 in late 69/70 so probably wrong for your 67 engine if you want to keep it correct.

Bit of a long shot, but didn't Turner Engineering use RTC codes? All I can find online is that they do LandRover stuff now?

One little point might clear this mystery up. Is the RTC mark RAISED, as in cast-in or is it recessed, as in engraved or stamped in?

He clearly says stamped, not once but twice.
