Re: Period key fobs?
Thanks 36inter (if your comment, was for me?)
The Wood & Pickett keyring is really nice, but the JanSpeed Turbo keyring, has SOO much more "weight"
as it comes from the guy, who actually built & designed, all the special parts for my car.
Not only did I get the keyring & cufflinks, he also gave me 3 almost mint badges.
He even told me, where they should be fitted (center of A panel) .

Really nice badges, and both comments are for your 'stuff'.
My first Mini (a 62 van, willow green) was Janspeed tuned with a cylinder head, inch and a half SU and 3 branch manifold, went very well for an 850 and would keep up with Mini's fitted with 1100 engines, always had a soft spot for Janspeed products.
Picture taken in Benidorm in 1970.

Re: Period key fobs?
That is one nice pic
Vans are cool, and yours had some nice "stuff" on love the mirrors/valvecover/airhorns/etc.
I see you also painted the front, in proper "racing" Silver
I think we must make a new thread as I have some pictures of my Father,s company service cars.
They were not standard either I have one pic, with me standing behind one, and the exhaust looks very big
so some one had done "something" to it .

Re: Period key fobs?
Thanks JC,
If you look closely I had the number plates stuck on the bonnet too, another go faster modification.
Another pic of my mini with a young me admiring the view, girls included,
Lower suspension, wheel spacers (they were a right pain on the front, I had to replace bearings and drive flange about every 4000 miles) single rear door, roof vent replaced with a piece of perspex for streamlining!! and racy roof ariel, single silencer at the back from a Austin Healey Sprite (the business in those days) AND I had some hair....
We took all the screws out of the lower window rail so we could put both windows in the middle and slide the whole lot out and put them in the back of the van, much cooler, when we left the van anywhere we put them back in and shut the windows which held then in secure, worked really well.
Even at 8 years old there was a lot of rot in the van, bottom rear coners were almost all gone, note the dent in the rear valence, that was someone running into the back of me which wrecked the rear doors, hence the replacement single fibreglass door, it was ok but not that well finished.

Re: Period key fobs?
hi all, after seeing the picture of the S&A keyfob on Marks site, i think in the Minisprint section, i to went on the hunt for one. It is nice to have something special to to look for, however after hours, days , weeks of trawlling i did,nt get a sniff of one, i nearly gave up all hope.... then just like buses two turned up, i have to say in the most unusual place on ebay and for next to nothing. So they are out there 36inter and mk1 rally so keep seaching as they do look fantastic in the car. Mine is getting its first outing tomorrow down to the Goodwood breakfast club.

Yes that thing with the plate didnt catch on here in DK, as we had thick steel no plates, with enemald on, so they could not be tampered with.36inter wrote:Thanks JC,

I think the picture had been MUCH better, if the camera, was turned a little more to the right something in that corner looks very interesting
You and me both hair is gone LONG time ago.
I will see if I can dig out that photo, with me & the van.

Yes funny how there are probably scores of very desireable coachbuilders fobs on ebay, but nobody looked!
Totally different subject but I have been searching for a very precise balsa model aircraft kit regularly for years, I missed one about four years ago!
There is one on now....heavy bidding time ?

Yes go for it
I love the excitement, of the last 15 sek, before the auction ends, and you see if you won.
I always bid manuel, no fun the "other" way.

Mellowyellow,
Two fobs.....
What a great result, though I still prefer the one on the left, if I had a choice!!

Yes the Blue/Silver is cool looks more "sporting" in some way.
These period merchandice "thingies" really makes the car more finished, in some way.
Maybe it would be worth it, to attend Beaulieu in September? .

Really nice fobs are RARE!
But sometimes you do drop on a bargain. My best one was a very rare & very early Downton fob with a Rolls Royce logo & their original address on it.

Re: Period key fobs?
Glad they have found a good home...of course I dont have a coachbuilt mini, just a mini moke, although these were converted by some coachbuilders, but not too radically.
I wondered if anyone used period fobs like the petrol SHELL/BP ones I showed when I started the thread?
Really cheap and cheerful but oozing period charm as I remember it?

but as inter36 already know, can this be a hard job.
I have some old local, keyfobs, incl one from the garage, that built the only 3 door hatchback Mini in Denmark
I will make some photos for you.

I have some old catalouges/adverts, and JanSpeed had a lot of "stuff & bling" back then-
but this is the only item, that I ever saw on Ebay.
