I mean the other half-half (broken van project), but you're of course right!

I make that nearly a half!

CooperSeans post, (previous page) re the ex Liverpool cop car. There was some discussion on the MCR forum regarding the genuine lack of black leather-cloth surrounding the front screen and rail. That is contrary to the photographic evidence - and the transport managers photo of same that I have in my grubby little mitts. Oh well......

Its sale also illustrates the transient nature of the ex cop Cooper S's. No one seems to keep them for long. A bit of short term fun, a few shows and then sold on..... and on..... and on. Not so the vans, where owners seem to keep them for ever!

Ah brings back happy memories of my upbringing in Caernarfon, North Wales. Police Mokes and Vans like those used to park outside the Police Station by the side of the Castle. Remember them well. My Dad had a new Humber Sceptre registered GJC 300G in 1968 (he had contacts in Licensing as he worked for the County Council and so had a choice of numbers)

It had MA registration plate 1BN914 in 2014 but that is no longer active, so it may have moved on. Underneath you can see V.....H which if VKA would match the Liverpool police story.

I wonder could it be VKA303H ? That was discussed elsewhere on the forum as being for sale by a forum member in Virginia about a year later.

(CooperTune: PM sent)
I believe that car to be VKA 303H which was exported to the USA by Peter Cavallo in 2001 at the same time he bought my Liverpool S OKD 697F.

Keppel Street yard South Shields, I'm guessing 1967/68.

Any ideas why they painted all the front grills black apart from the Morris S?

Here's another Carlisle Plodmobile found on a local piccy website. It gives a date of 1968.

Found another pic of a Carlisle Plodmobile in an old local paper I found stuffed in the bottom of a box in my old man's shed...

Looks like a nice car but did police cars use the non S standard interiors?

We were in Otago at Easter, wonder what the local coppers thought of going from a Valiant to a Mini?

Haha, I don't suppose so. I think all that series of Police Coopers were Mk2s anyway, so quite what remains of the original Mk2 Cooper "S" in what is offered there I'm not sure :? .....

Just put a bid on it - be good to know what Peter Laidler did, wouldn't it Pete?

How old is your daughter Sarah now, and does she still know where the spanners go?

Think I may have bought that magazine back in the day - will have to have a look through all the boxes in the shed and the loft as don't normally throw any of them away - although the good lady tries to sneak quite a few in the bin without me knowing!
