Rally lights

Post by bluemin »

Now that the powers that be seem intent on banning my large Cibies I have to think on something else.

Now I've had the Cibies for about a hundred years so buying something new is going to be EXPENSIVE. :o

So what would the panel suggest?

Cibie Oscar+ look OK but they are about £94.00 EACH.
There's Staffords "Slimline Stainless Steel Driving Lights" at £52.00 a pair with 100w bulbs (ignore plod for the purpose of this exercise) but are they any good?

PIAA do a nice jobbie 80XT? but again about £250.00 for a pair with wiring.

Lucas reproductions? Any good?

Marchal seen to have gone AWOL.............So what's left folks that's any good at a REASONABLE cost.

In a similar position with my Turinis but i'm gonna wait and see what's on the market nearer the Jan 2012 deadline for changing them.

The baby Lightforces sound good though, although they aren't cheap either and will prob. look well odd on a mini!

KC Daylighters - a decent size on a Mini and with good output. It is said the sealed beam ones are slightly better than the H3 ones.

If this is a retrospective ban, don't the Government have to pay compensation, as they did with legally owned hand-guns?

Nope not retrospective. Just the MSA out to spoil our fun & cost us even more. Thought that we were meant to use cars that were representative of their day but they don't like four lights, don't like BIG lights, don't like door squares etc etc.

Sorry............hobbyhorse

Back to subject...........any further suggestions on the light front before I have to buy Cibie Oscar+ with the C**P H2 bulb that fails every hundred yards.
