I'd vote for oulton as its close for me and fairly central. Shame they've butchered Aintree, still good for sprints though.

The MCR day at Curbourough sprint circuit was a fantastic day as i remember. A range of fantastic cars and a real feeling of real motorsport. Or there is always Cadwell Park which is a cracking old circuit. A mate is chief Marshall there.

Cadwell is my favourite track. The first track I raced at. What a shock that was having no idea what It was like before arriving Fantastic track. Its very similar to Knockhill only Cadwell's longer.coopertim wrote:The MCR day at Curbourough sprint circuit was a fantastic day as i remember. Re: low cost motor sport....... track days
There are 5 track days at Croft this year, but sound levels are now much lower (88dB)
http://www.croftcircuit.co.uk/car.php
More info and booking atThere is nothing quite like driving your own car on an International Racing Circuit. Getting to grips with the tough technical corners, putting your foot down and getting the most out of your motoring...
Legally!!!! A full driving licence is essential and helmets are required (Helmets can be hired).
Croft Car Track Days are back in 2011. Although now much quieter and with less cars on track at any one time.
The minimum guaranteed track time is one and a half hours in sessions throughout the day.
A maximum of 10 cars on track per session allows for ample space to drive the 2.12 circuit.
Your vehicle must be a 'normal road going vehicle' i.e. no modifications, with a maximum exhaust noise level of 88dba static at 3/4 revs.
Fully qualified ARDS instructors will be on standby to assist, if required, throughout the day. However you can also exclusively hire an instructor for the day.
Please telephone the circuit to book an instructor.
The cost for the full day is £152.75 (incl VAT) and the additional driver cost is £25.00 (incl VAT).
Sunday May 8th
Sunday July 17th
Sunday August 21st
Sunday September 18th
Sunday October 9th

Re: low cost motor sport....... track days
The croft " normal road car " might be a problem for me and others. I am thinking of a mini with 1380 engine and a single box RC40 exhaust built for track days only, roll cage etc.
As for how noisy it is I've no idea !
Why does a simple idea always turn out so bl**dy difficult to work out

Surf......If you have been before,do you know what is on at Oulton around August onwards track day wise ? and what sort of price do they normally charge ?
I assume these track days would be full of "flash" fast cars aswell.

That would be my worry, surprised there aren't any 'classics only' trackdays...or are there?IAIN wrote:Surf......If you have been before,do you know what is on at Oulton around August onwards track day wise ? and what sort of price do they normally charge ?

... various prices plus ClubMSV will have the odd one though none announced for late Summer yet. I know little more as I've never done one.

Thanks surf.
I am probably furthest away from any of the tracks, so I am just going to wait and see what develops.
If enough people show an interest to make it worth while I will go.
It's up to you lot

Re: low cost motor sport....... track days
OK so my car's virtually there now so I had a quick sniff around for a trackday this morning and all I can find are £200 open pits with a bunch of Ariel Atoms, EVOs, Porsche 911, Astons etc which is far from ideal and too bloody expensive.
I have found one run by LMC at the Aintree circuit though which is a better bet, £115 , runs in ten minute sessions throughout the day (so Minis could go out in a group) and an interesting venue that I haven't been to for quite a few years. So I'm going to go for this one, it's on a Saturday which is a bonus on the 1st October, I think Colin Flynn wil be taking his racer also and it should be a decent day's fun if anyone fancies it. There are only two of these track days per year so opportunities to drive the circuit don't come around too often ! You can click a link here and they will email you when entries are open (September onward).

HANG ON LADS - ive got an idea
if I take the Pajero evo round the track before the minis go out, I can clear everyone else off it with some big car bullying tactics !!!
