Well its been nearly a year since I posted anything on the car, at the end of the last event the oil pressure had pretty much disappeared, and a year on and with messing with other Mini projects it's still sat In the garage as it was pushed in from the last event.

The car was only built with a standard crank, so i'm guessing its run a mains or big end, its a must to get it out again next year, I have another car with a MED motor in it giving 116 at the engine which I may rebuild and swop into KEC, as I have a nice 85 horse road rally engine to go in that !

Nice "arty" pic

So at last, nearly 2 years after last using the car , the engines out and in bits !, run a main bearing, as I thought, plus the clutch was infested with oil, which wont have helped its performance, specially up that big drag of a hill at Harewood !

So I have found someone to do the engine and also try to get a bit more power, i'd lost hope of finding anyone to do it and almost given up again for this year, but thanks to a an old friend and forum member on here i've now found someone, not sure on any timings yet, but D day for me isn't till June, so hopefully plenty of time

Couple of updates on KECs progress for this year

Engine now stripped and pretty much scrap ! , oil starvation seems to have been the problem, oil pump, crank or otherwise failing

So brand new engine in build, eek !

Also suspension in bits, few tweaks, and a set of rose petals to join my obsession of wheels !

KEC is up and running again !, need to get some miles on it, then rolling road on the 20th, engine spec is pretty much as it was, replaced the 296 Kent cam with a SW23 from Swiftune, with a matching dizzy / coil and timing gear.

Started off with a fresh crank with standard journals, treated and balanced this time, heads had some work and slightly bigger valves 35 /30, Omega pistons 73.5, all balanced up, into a fresh A series 11 stud block with all new core plugs, water pump, studs, bolts nuts etc etc, this time everything matches rather than bolting on what i had, new comp clutch and a different lightened flywheel

i've dropped down to a 4;1 diff, really wanted to go LSD, couldn't settle on anything then ran out of time this time round

To complement that i've fitted some KAD rear brackets on the subframe, as the rear wheels had some serious camber problems since i built it !

also came across some Rosepetals and decided to dig deep and get some avons to go on them, still got some recent A008s and some half worn A032Rs on other rims, see how I get on

ill report back in the next few weeks prior to Harewood

Few miles in it tonight , just to bed it all in, still running on the Aldon dizzy, I’ll fit the new swiftune bundle in the week

Really happy with the way it looks on the rosepetals, still on A032 s at the mo, I’ve had the suspension set up and it all looks square for the first time ! , Feels really good on the road so far

75 Miles on it so far, haven't revved it above 3500 mind, cam dosn't come into band till 4500, so no real idea of performance, rolling road on Monday will give me a better clue, it feels better on the road then before with the suspension mods, Avons came today, ill get them on soon and get a few miles on them,

although KEC hasnt done all the Blyton, I've done all 6 now, the set of event decals are a nice addition to the car

Glad to hear that things are progressing Steve.

That full set of Blyton stickers must be rare, I don't think even I have a full set of all 6.
