Mike used to come along to our MCR meetings in the early 90's and we'd get treated to a full slide show, great colour aren't they ?
I have a video of Mike Woods interesting talk and full colour slide show for the MCR: "A View from the Other Side"..........I recently transferred it onto DVD. Originally produced by Basil Wales in 1995 as one of a series of videos (which I also have) when he ran the Ex-works & Special Tuning Register.

Basil Wales is hoping to officially re-master and re-issue the 1995 Classic Experience "A View from the Other Side" video (as mentioned above) onto DVD if there is enough interest......it features Mike Woods talk, stories and slides about the works Mini's. If anyone wants to register their interest in buying a copy from Basil pm me and I will pass on his email address to you. He may also re-issue the others in the series of talks by famous Mini race and rally drivers onto dvd if sufficient demand.

I totally agree, some stunning and evocative photographs there, am intrigued by the lack of gutters and seems on GRX 311D and those wheels look mighty wide too.

Many thanks.

The deseamed GRX 311D was a one-off lightweight rally car built for the Gallaghers Circuit of Ireland rally in 1969 and was driven by Paddy Hopkirk.

There are other differences between the bodyshells - the Circuit GRX 311D appears to have Mk2 doors however have internal door hinges, petrol filler necks are recessed as are the door handles. The grille is a Mk2 Austin Healey Sprite with an infill panel in mesh above, MGB reversing lamp lenses as indicators and so on.

I'm sure there are others on here that would have much more information on the differences between this one off Mini and it's previous guises.

Mike's on the committee of our club (Lancashire Automobile Club) and he is still a lovely guy with a wealth of stories to share. I shall try and tempt him onto the forum to say hello to you all.
