What a cracking weekend of racing. Thrills, a few spills & what a spectacle!

Wasn't it brilliant to see so many Minis on the grid & how they were welcomed. It is true, everyone (of a certain age) has their own Mini story to tell.

It was also great to see the Mini-insert of Mark creating his Cooper S Traveller.

Very well done to everyone off here who took part, it was great to see so many people represented.

For me, the only down side was the TERRIBLE commentary on the ITV4 coverage. Neither the commentator or the supposed "expert" who was a Porsche cup racer had any idea what they were talking about, neither of them contributed anything to what was a series of fantastic races.

As I say, well done to everyone on here.

Ahhh the highs & lows of racing.
Fantastic Saturday followed by a pair of disappointing retirements on Sunday, still, at least I got to park in shelter 426 of the Betty Richmond paddock instead of in the daffodils by the tunnel...

Biggest cheer of prizegiving was for Nick Swift by a long way, and Mark was robbed of bestest car by the M1 Procar - something he richly deserved.

The reason for our spectacular retirement was a nipped valve which destroyed no 3 piston and it was all going so well...We were towed back to pit where we sent for our spare sealed engine in which time Swifty kindly lent us his hoist so engine was removed by team before replacement arrived... A straight forward fitting took place, all fired up ok and systems checks went well...We then went to go through the gears and we had no 3rd gear so 2 hours of fiddling about led us to the conclusion that it was internal fault and race was over gutted is an understatement but we had 2 cars still running so concentrated on there races...Matt Jeffery and Ray Low did an amazing job with very late entries and no testing so very proud of them and what the team achieved just to be there with 3 cars...Thanks for all the kind words and support means a lot...Onwards and upwards...Ace

You did an epic job to get the other engine in Andy in record time but such bad luck not to get back on track. Are you doing more races this year? We're planning to do the Gold Cup.

Also sad not to see Mark's Countryman finish, Dave Edgecombe would have been interesting in the final also, Middlehurst, Endaf of course, still a great battle with the top four though and well done Timo Harber! 8-)

I watched Tim's onboard footage with him yesterday - his start in the first heat was World Class.

Mark's fanbelt suffered from the random but frustrating hoppng off and turning inside out.
Must be an odd harmonic somewhere for so many to suffer from it.

Struggling to describe it ....

Imagine you are going camping at the weekend and when you get there you only have one teabag. You make a cup of tea first night and decide to keep the teabag for the morning, when you make another less refreshing cup. In case you can't get one immediately you keep it for emergency use. Having done this several times you arrive at the end of the weekend having used the teabag 10 times and it's barely able to colour the water. Well, when I arrived at Goodwood , I felt like that teabag , so much had gone on previously. I had the energy to appear less like a zombie and a bit like a human at the meeting and survived ok until the race on Sunday , when I ran out of puff.

Every waking and sleeping minute for 8 weeks had been taken up with it. All sorts of dramas had occurred and it wasn't until Thursday after the meeting that I even looked at my in car footage .
It was a indeed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we had to go for it.

I was glad of Alex's encouragement and he even ended up pit signalling for me and I have sent my footage to Stuart who will put it up hopefully so you can see how the first-time amateur amongst us fared. I will put some pics up at some stage .

You will certainly enjoy the start and also a little "flourish " as I came out of the chicane on the last lap as I tried to push on and catch Ron Maydon in front of me as I was running in 16th which would have been the ultimate frustration

Phil Anning put into perspective when he said on Friday "I'm actually quite looking forward to Monday"

Words fail...

I doubt it! I suspect it’ll just be a one off 30 car race squeezed onto the race card. Back literally by public demand!

I managed to catch the Goodwood mini race totally by chance on the hotel telly when I was in Austria last week.

Flippin eck, it was probably the most entertaining racing I've watched since attending Croft in the 80's, utterly edge of the seat stuff!! Nick Swift is some wily character is he not? :D

Hard to believe that a 60 year old car can still put on such a show!

Aw shucks

Have to make do with memories:

CCK . Look no gearchanges. See Team Vita car fall off behind me 3rd corner

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WslszJS9hSA

Tom Blomqvist . Look no can see out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYjtST-qBI4

Nick Paddy. Look all around you

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=higTGHM6kxo

and mine . Excuses book : First time out, car 20kg over weight , driver overweight etc etc. If you start falling asleep , go to about 21 minutes in to the last lap chicane
