"We" were over near the rally stage Bryn, bit of a 'Mary Celeste' job this year though with only two or three cars from the MCR actually bothering to attend :? so easy to miss without signage and banners etc. I spent most of the time in the rally stage with Dave Archer ("Mk1 Rally") who had his car on the stage throughout the weekend (once a few niggles were sorted out). Friday and Saturday were sunny , warm and packed for the most part. I took Steve Ecky's rally car round the sprint on Saturday and Sunday as the Hornet just wasn't fettled in time.
The rally stage was basic to say the least, littered mainly with Gp B cars but there's talk of some investment next year and a decent course is in the offing.
Whizzo had the crowd whooping through the chicane as usual, Andy Harrison and David Woodhouse competed in their App K Minis, Tom Bradley/Pip in the parade in the 1275GT, Jumpin' Jeff in his Citroen, all great company , what a shame about the weather on Sunday !! :(

Cheers for the jungle juice Andy, just made it to the petrol station once I'd sat in an hour's queue past Oulton !

Yes, damm shame about the weather. Lovely Friday day when I got chance to go around the track a few goes (then the niggles started!!)

Saturday morn was damp, clearing to a nice afternoon and evening.

Sunday a wash out really.

Thanks goes to all who helped out with my faults (Mike D,Pete, Andy Harrison of Ace speed (a shameless, deserved punt!), Wizzo, Jim Brindle Race!) and Del) resulting in a fair few good runs on the limited stage in the mini. I was asked about the chicane on the main track by the group B boy's, in which I replied "What chicane?" much to my amusement!

Same again for the straw bails on the rally stage (flat in 3rd for me). I Drove the car until it ran out of fuel!!

Did have a taste of something more exotic though, one of the chaps lent me his 6R4!!

I've driven some very quick Evo's and Scoobys in anger before but nothing and I do mean nothing prepaired me for a 400 bhp metro, on slicks (in the wet on a mud soaked track) with a short box in the damp. It was simply fighteningly fast but actually very easy to drive. Very raw and went where you pointed it.

On my second run, a chap jumped in who I thought was his regular navigator and it wasnt until we approached the start line that he asked how long I had been driving it it?

I replied "oh about 500 yards!"

The owner came over and told me to "give it some beans this time" and my passenger looked a bit worried, I then told him that we were on slicks and it was a little damp out there to say the least! ....the air turned blue from his mic all the way round!!

I cant see me ever being able to run/afford one though. This was a £100k car! (How much are kidneys worth?)

On the mini front, I noted the Hannu Mikkola works B Quattro in front of me at the start line of the sprint had a brake light out. After the sprint I asked had he seen me in his rear view on the run, to which he laughed up until I told him he had a brake light out and it was somewhat confusing whilst following!!.

Aha, the four cars with the 1275 gt on the stand ?? great shame considering the support it's had over the last few years...different day for me as had wifey and 3 1/2 year old with me so more of a 'lifestyle day' than standing with camera plonked to face being nostalgic with my dad as previous years..lol

I went on the Saturday with my old man, the weather ended up being great with on a couple of showers. Had a short chat with Andy (Acespeed) and heard the story about the chicane... watching whizzo and the car going through the same chicane later in the day was the best thing I saw all day! It really did look awesome.

Here are a few arty shots from my day http://www.flickr.com/photos/tomkidd/se ... 221548142/

I see you have a photo of PMO 200, that car used to live in Lancashire! Croston of all places. It was owned by one of my customers, a chap called Ted Hock. Ted is a fantastic oldy Worldy bloke he drives a MG M as his every day car.

I see in the news that the POP is being moved to the 15th - 17th of June next year to avoid the July rain :)

They should have moved it to Tenerife.
