I would dearly love a 970, its just a shame that despite there being so many out there, market forces hasnt effected the prices...

I remember when 970 stuff was about 60% that of 1275 stuff
As with all original S items they have now become rare & much sought after bits. As there really were so many fewer made originally it is inevitable that the prices will rocket, particularly when there seem to be a lot of people building sub 1000 historic racers at the mo.

I wouldn't have ever raced with anything but std/std since the nitriding was marginal even at 10/10. For a 999cc race Mini a Gordon Allen crank would be the best bet. Only one of the five for sale would be suitable for serious racing.

ive got two 970's one in the car all up and running but quite highly strung ie its a full race engine on the road quite good fun and lump no/2 we found in a garage clear out its all bog i mean everything we even got the carbs with the old pancake filters inlet and exhaust manifolds std bore a 163 head with all the s rockers std dizzy the 970 engine tag on the block and the 333 gearbox but no engine number but im not moaning i got it for £50.00 thats a bugger init
