Pad4 it could be possible
From the website from BMW:
BMW Group Classic sets up Motorsport division.
08.04.2010
Munich. BMW Group Classic is expanding its mission: from the beginning of this year the newly established Motorsport division is offering assistance in everything to do with classic competition vehicles that carry the BMW and Mini badges. The activities of the motorsport specialists extend from advice on servicing and repair, through parts procurement, right up to complete restoration – drawing on the definitive skills of the manufacturer.
Oldtimer Grand Prix, Festival of Speed, Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic – motor racing with historic cars is experiencing an unstoppable boom. More and more competitions are exerting a magnetic pull on participants and spectators alike. And almost always there are one or more BMWs on the starting grid. To ensure that these vehicles remain raceworthy, as from January 2010 BMW Classic has set up a dedicated Motorsport division whose aim is to provide the same comprehensive service for classic racing cars as BMW Classic does for road vehicles.
18 july I will finally visit BMW. And have a look and talk about he goodwood racer and have a look through their archive. It's more comprehensive then what you can find on the internet.
http://www.miniclassic-archives.com/2/webmill.php
Not all is published because of (C). But are very interessted in buying (C) on photo's and so on.
We have a list of things about their goodwood racer. And gonna talk about it.
During the building of the car there was a scruteneer helping BMW to build up the car.
Roald.

With the greatest respect to the BMW engineers, I doubt whether there is much more they can offer current historic racers than they can get from their existing sources of intelligence......unless they can get their hands on illegal materials and/or parts, that is?

Re: Goodwood racer of BMW
YMJ I agree on that. I don't think they have other materials on their hand to do something special with the car.
They have a high aim. Getting close to the car of Nick Swift. I don't think that's gonna happen. They have a good driver in Jorg Weidinger (european hillclimb champion and test driver for BMW). But I think historic racing is something different then the car Jorg is driving.
They talk about handling problems. So maybe we can help them a little on monday. Not that I know a lot about handling a historic racer. But my Carst (miniminded (NL))nows one and two about handling a car. His dad runs a historic cooper s. And nearly in thouch with Dieter Dahleman in historic racing here in holland.

Well, after seeing some videos of Dahleman driving, that is not a compliment.racemini.nl wrote:YMJ I agree on that. I don't think they have other materials on their hand to do something special with the car.

Yes Dieter drives some strange lines on Assen and Zandvoort. Other circuit's I don't know but I think he does the same there.
Some people say that Dieter has some "materials" on his car which are not common on a fia race mini. Some years ago he had fuel that made you a little sick. (well the story tells).
Okay, there are far more better drivers out there in the UK. But for here he's the aim to get close to.
Dieter drives already a long time. Klaas Span runs his Cooper S now for 3 years. Before that he raced youngtimers in a mini.

Re: Goodwood racer of BMW
It was a great day yesterday.
Still a lot to do on the car by BMW. Talked about the mini and hopefully they could use some of our tips. Wel we where number 3 in line where they ge their info from. Like always 3 different opinions.
They take it very seriously and make many test kilomters with their 2 drivers Jorg Weidinger and Claudia Hurtgen.
They have 2 former F1 mechanics at work on the car. And how different they have to think about how a car works. They where thinking in thenths of mm.
Also had a nice tour through BMW Group Classic. Seen some very rare cars from BMW itself. But Also some fine mini's they bought last few year and months. Had a little browse through their miniarchive which is not really that big at the moment. But are still looking for more articles and other materials regarding the mini. But their BMW is very very very big.
Funny is there was an Clubman from the early 70's. BMW doesn't know when and where they bought it but it was far before they ever where thinking of buying mini.
