Values on a Mk1 super deluxe

Post by Brynmor »

Off to look at one of the above tonight, needs all the usual areas tidying as off the road for some time now. Nice local history from new and no parts missing. Being slightly out of touch on values what do we reckon I should be offering?

Really it depends on what condition it's in.

I paid the best part of four grand for mine, that was two years ago. It was more or less spotless, no visible rust. But it was running on three cylinders at the time. Also, it emerged that it's not the original colour, and that the engine is not the original one, nor was it built to Super Deluxe trim level from the factory. I wasn't given any history of the car either.

Nevertheless, for what I bought, I'd say I got more than my money's worth, and have no regrets.

I wouldn't say a genuine Super Deluxe would be worth significantly more than a standard Mini. Maybe less, even. It's the Supers that are worth the most out of the non-Cooper Minis, I'd say.

Personally I would value most cars on their condition alone, rather than what their history is, unless it's something exceptional like an ex-works car.

Can someone tell me the colors for super deluxes in 1963? I have one i'm stripping in the garage which has about 20 coats of paint on it. I'm trying to decide what color to paint mine.

Sorry to slightly highjack the thread.

I'd say 4k would be about right for a very good one ? its more what you are prepared to pay I guess. Look at what it needs doing, put a price on that work and then add 50% because its always alot more!

I agree, between 4-5k seems reasonable for a vgc Mk I. I've seen a couple of Supers go for 6k or more.

Not sure of the colours they would have been painted in for 63, but I do have a list for all Super Deluxes:

El Paso Beige
Sandy Beige
Black
Bermuda Blue + White
Island Blue + OEW
Island Blue
Surf Blue + OEW
Almond Green + OEW
Almond Green
Smoke Grey + OEW
Smoke Grey
Tweed Grey
Maroon B
Tartan Red + Black
Tartan Red
OEW + Black
OEW
Fiesta Yellow + OEW
Fiesta Yellow

I wonder if you may be confusing a Super de luxe with a Super. The two are quite different, the Super being the very rare and more valuable one.

thanks smoke grey.

Mines going either Tarten red or OEW as it has red / fleck interior and I like those colors :geek:

Had to cancel my full visit last week however did take a quick look, it needs a full restoration!! Good points are that it's not messed with but at the end of the day my minds telling me it would be more useful for parts for other peoples projects.(It's a very faded Green by the way) ;)

i paid 2750 sight unseen (well pics on ebay) for my 63 super deluxe in almond green.

If I'd seen it for sale a few months earlier I could have paid just over 2 grand, before that it was 'sold' - the type where the buyer backs out at the last minute  for 3 and a half.

So theres a ballpark for a tatty in places car in need of unbodging but running with a full mot.
