EARLY 'DRY' 1275 S REGNO. EPH2B
My dad has owned this car since the early 80's, it's a green/white 'dry' 1275, within the first 200 cars, Austin. It was supplied to Weybridge Autos. Can't find any early history on it, does'nt look like it's been rallied but it has had a RH tank , oil cooler fitted. Can ayone help.

Getting the RH tank and oil cooler was simply a matter of asking for them as optional extras. IIRc the tank was £13-10s.
The way it was worded in the original order form, the 4 1/2" wheels only came with racing tyres.

Yep it was built with a single tank and no oil cooler. Do you have an address for the then Weybridge Autos? The Weybridge Autos that appears on line now is in Station Road in neighbouring Walton on Thames. I lived yards away round the corner from 1975 to 1986 and it was a Renault dealer throughout that period. More recently, of course, it is exactly where the Millie Dowler tragedy played out.
The Weybridge BMC/BL dealer then was Lex. A guy there told me they (I assume already trading as part of Lex Group) used to supply Ken Tyrell with BMC parts in his FJ/F3 days, which would be about when your car was supplied.
HWM in Walton were the Jaguar dealer and I think also handled some other BMC/BL cars (as well as Aston Martin). George Abecassis was still involved until quite late but co-founder John Heath was killed racing many years earlier (55 Mille Miglia?).
So, I don't know whether "Weybridge Autos" would have been a BMC dealer in Walton on Thames then or whether, as seems more likely, they would have ordered in your "S" when a general garage or a dealer for another make. The whole area was seeped in motorsport, arising originally from the proximity of Brooklands. Bruce McLaren lived in the private estate of Burwood Park, right across the railway from Weybridge Autos and Denny Hulme in the much more exclusive St Georges Hill, just down the road.

Weybridge Autos were at 30 Queens Road but they were an Austin distributor so may have obtained the car for a smaller Austin dealer.
