Difference bewteen a Mk 3 Cooper S block and an Austin 1300
Does anybody on here know the difference between a Mk 3 Cooper S block and an Austin 1300/GT type if any??? Any markings or castings I need to know about? Cheers.

Same block and the Mk3 never had removable tappet covers, only the proper ones got those.

All mk3 cooper s would originally had a thick flange cooper s block with removable tappet chest covers .
Some may have had engine exchanges over time with 1300gt engines when the cooper s engine was NLA

My mk3 has removable rocker chest covers! We have found an 'S'type crank in a 1300 Gt that seemed to have never been tampered with.

Both my S engine and 1300 have a removeable rocker cover.
