Harewood Classic 2019 - June 1st
A date for your diary.
The Classic & Vintage meeting at Harewood will be held on June 1st 2019.
As usual, MK1 Performance Conversions will be sponsoring class C19 which is open to all saloon cars registered before 1972.
For the last 2 years we have had a full take up of 19 Minis of all shapes & engine sizes, it would be great to repeat our success to celebrate 60 years of the Mini.
This is just 1 event we hope to be supporting during the 60th anniversary of our favourite car.

Re: Harewood Classic 2019 - June 1st
i had a guy come up to me on Sunday and say he was there spectating this year and how good it was to see all the minis competing together. I explained it was people from this forum mostly, I was gonna send him over to speak to you Mark but you'd not arrived by then.
I think we'll be at Lauder for the BVAC show, they're planning on celebrating the 60th.

Re: Harewood Classic 2019 - June 1st
I have been thinking that there ought to be something to mark the 50th anniversary of the Biota launch and so it would seem appropriate that it should be northern, especially here as it was the scene of their only triumph
I probably won't have time to investigate it more at this stage but I would ask for input as to what might be a nice date and this seems a good bet . Any other dates that might fit the bill boss? What classes are there usually ?

Class 19 - can you make sure the tyre wording and working headlights nonsense is discarded as it was great to be with so many minis at the 2018 event so 2019 would be good

What’s the tyre regulation on this? I think I’d like to bring 72ACE out....

Treaded tyres preferred.
But as it's a catch all class there aren't any hard & fast regulations applied. A couple of drivers last year were using slicks. This has historically not caused a problem on the day.
The MK1 Trophy (awarded on the day) is only open to cars using treaded tyres. (Including CR65s).

Re: Harewood Classic 2019 - June 1st
Brill Mark, I’m trying to get my mojo back and struggling, too short staffed and busy at work for a start !
KEC is still sat under a cover ( and every engine builder I’ve tried is fully booked up till Christmas!!) and DJJ is sat at my Dads untouched, I had big plans for Mini 60 at Shelsley but that’s gone pear shaped, and can’t attend Impney due to other commitments
So .... it’s down to Blyton , Harewood and Barbon again this year in DJJ with Nick, I just need some bloody mojo
Who else is up for Classic and vintage ? , give me some motivation!!

Re: Harewood Classic 2019 - June 1st
Hi Steve,
I know that feeling very well, it's motivation that is the hardest thing to keep going.
I had such great hopes for this year.
I ordered a new engine in August on the strict understanding that it was delivered in Jan. Despite paying a huge deposit & supplying the main bits of the engine, I have been let down on that, so I spent the weekend fettling the Hornet as is. I have been working on another secret project all winter in the hope of having it ready for the weekend & I discovered this weekend that the brake master cylinders need re lining. So the only thing we have managed to get sorted is Adam's Austin 7.
I am however really looking forward to harewood, hopefully we will have another class bulging with Minis like the last 2 years! Would be great to see you there.
Hopefully once the season gets started we will all enjoy it more.
I'm still missing that new engine though!

Not sure who "Them" are, I usually do my own. Only engine I had built was by MED & I'd certainly not use them again.YMJ wrote:

I'm not saying anything about the current suppliers until I have a completed, working engine in my car, but no doubt the full story will come out in the wash. Needless to say after 6 months faffing about, to come back to me 2 days before I was supposed to go down & see it dyno'd that they had no con rods was "a bit disappointing".
