Fantastic research there. The passion from the restorer comes through really well in the video too.

Its good to document everything, just don't use photobucket to do it like I did with the Unipower! I did the same as you in keeping some original paint behind closing panels and door locks. Great to see things moving along Jeroen!

Thanks chaps. It's so good to keep on seeing things turning up. Meanwhile, I also found out quite a lot through historic images. The file just keeps growing and growing and photos keep on turning up from the strangest sources. Oh, and Pete, I am surely making as many photos as I can and filing them safely here at home.

Yes "new" images will keep cropping up! Always a nice surprise when they do! I must admit I should complete my research on my car which got up to the early 70s when a Mr Barnacle(!) owned it. He's the only one of the early owners I've not had contact from but did find a race programme with him in! Enjoy the journey Jeroen!

Pete, After Mister Barnacle (I have him as Barnical?) your car was supposedly owned by a Mr. Weldon and a Mr. Nicholson. Have you already traced them?

I'll check the spelling, the race entry is hand written but does look like Barnacle. I've spoken to Alan Nicholson several times, a good talker! He said that Peter Filby had tried to buy it when in Scotland. I spoke to Weldon but he cannot remember the car specifically, he seems to think it was yellow at the time he had one (which it wasn't at that time). The one person I haven't spoken to yet is Chris Alford who exported it.

Is Chris Alford still at Silverstone?

I have some very good news as the car is now officially approved as the real deal by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO - organizers of the 24hrs of Le Mans). This also means I now have copies of all their official files, which prove to be a goldmine of information for the restoration. I'm a happy bunny!

That's fantastic news!

I'm sure that the ACO's approval won't be a hindrance if you ever want to run at LeMans classic :)

It's been a long time since I updated work on the Le Mans Mini Marcos.
Well, here we go, and it's not very good news I am afraid.
There is, however good hope also!

About time for a little update here.
Body shell is now fully repaired, including the double skinned floor with balsa wood sandwiched in between and bonded in roll cage.
Bonnet back in its original shape, doors and roof repaired (somebody must have danced on it as the roof was just full of cracks), rear wheel arches refabricated from what was left of them and all further damages are all repaired now.
The body is fully back to what it was like when the car raced!
Next step: preparing for paint.

Another tiny update then.
I have finally tracked down the only living man who was part of the five men strong team to enter the car at Le Mans and I am going to visit him this Friday in Paris.
Fingers crossed!
