Hi there,
I just did the rebuild of some 7.5" brake calipers. Well during this rebuild I also splitted the two halfes of the calipers and know I face the problem that I can't find the correct torque value needed to put them back together.
Any idea?
Thanks a lot!

Re: brake calliper torque setting
I just had the right idea a little late - searched in the old forum and found it...

thats too much
45 lb/ft = 540 lb/inch / 61 newton meters
my data comes from the current ap technical sheet that comes with the new bolt & seal kit...........

Re: brake calliper torque setting
ok, that sounds like a good source!
I have heard of 39Nm for the 4piston aluminium calipers and thus trusted those 61Nm for the standard items. But if that's the official value from AP then I will take that. Luckily I haven't torqued them down yet.
Someone else (not from this forum) gave me the advice: as strong as possible - never had any problems with that...

Re: brake calliper torque setting
By the way. Do you guys use hardened washers when mounting caliper halves? To me it seems like a good ida as the caluiper material is hardly hard
The same issue goes through my head when fitting the brake shields or the brake hose protector. These are soft as jello, so would definitely screw up the torque settings after a short while.
