Brooklands 12/12 - 2011

Post by mk1 »

I am pleased to be able to report that another group of Mini's were competing in this years Brooklands 12/12.

It's a brilliant event where a huge array of different calssic cars get an opportunity to compete on a variety of Autotest type events, including the famous Brooklands test hill & then compete in a concourse event.

I am even more pleased to report that Mike Mark won the Mini / small car class for the second year running.

Thanks Mark,

I'm a little embarrassed to be honest! But at least we used a different car this year & we all had someone to talk to on the way round as we had to have passenger. The auto tests were not to the same MENSA level as last year but there was the option of a waved arm to help! I think everyone will turn up in BRG colour cars next time.

A big thank you to all the other MK1PC members that took part for helping to fill our section of the class.

Mike.

Certainly was a great weekend and the weather was kind to. All the drivers and mins put on a great show with some fast little tests. Highlight for me was the parade lap around the mercedes test track were the course car allowed us to get a good head of steam up, in my defence (driver standings) when we got home I found that the hand brake had seized on the drivers side rear which would probably account for my lack of speed on the day!!!! Hats off to Mike, Mark, and Simon and roll on next year!

For anyone who doesn't know the 12/12 is an absolutely fantastic event, I seriously regret not being able to make it this year. Hopefully I'll be back again next year all things being equal.

It was nice to get a top 3 finish against such distinguished competition, lets hope they have a class for us again next year (which will be full of green cars :P )
