FITTING A MANIFLOW LCB WITH RUBBER COUPLINGS
Thinking of going from a maniflow freeflow to a LCB . What are they like for clearance as i'm still running rubber drive couplings

Re: FITTING A MANIFLOW LCB WITH RUBBER COUPLINGS
Hello Steve,
I'm running a medium bore one on the grey car with either rubber or Nylon couplings. They fit but are tight. Make sure the engine mounts and steady's are good (I know you will) because if their is much slack, the ends of the drives side coupling get a bit cooked!!
If you go for the small bore LCB, you may have a little more space. I've found the small bore engines perfom better with the smaller one, more mid range.

I ran a standard Maniflow LCB with rubber couplings. If you can put up with the banging you’ll soon have clearance. Or I’ll a take a picture at the weekend and you can give it a tap before fitting.

I have never managed to fit a Maniflow LCB to a car with rubber drive couplings without having to batter one of the down pipes almost 1/2 flat to get enough clearance.

X2
so this time i used their 3-1 mandrel bent extractors, even these are tight. i had to remove the rubber cross to get them in

never argue with a fool, they'll only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

I've seen LCB manifolds designed for use with rubber couplings, one of the pipes makes a bend to clear the rubber coupling. Can't recall the manufacturer at the momment...
You can't have too many cars. Just too little space...

Jan,
I think the one you are thinking of is the 1300GT one, this did indeed have a kink in it to clear couplings.

Steve, my cars at Jim's. Have a look and you'll see its tight but does fit. I have sinced changed to the nylon couplings but I don't think it will make that much differnce in clearance.

Re: FITTING A MANIFLOW LCB WITH RUBBER COUPLINGS
Janspeed used to do an LCB manifold with a slightly flat section to clear the rubber coupling. It doesn't take much to tweaking to get it to clear.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.

Did the 1300GTs have a 'single piece' manifold from the head reaching under the floor? If so you'r probably right, as my knowledge about 1300GTs is pretty much non existantmk1 wrote:Jan,
