Re: Just a nice period picture
The photo by 66traveller - Inno Cooper looks like a bloke dressed up as a girl! Some of Costafortunes press and PR photos with the two girls in apparent conversation would make great contenders for a 'what-are-they-saying' quotation contest!

From the 1964 film Night Must Fall staring Susan Hampshire and Albert Finney

Yes Crayford has no door window frames/ windows - presumably removed for filming but totally impractical with the hood!

Yes...., Susan Hampshire was always my heart throb. Lives round here too. Maybe she secretly lusted after me too.....

Them BMC birds must be well rich - they seem to have a lot of cars.

Re: Just a nice period picture
Now here's a question; if you could go back 50 years, how long would you go for? Knowing what you do now of course - no mobile phones, internet, credit/debit cards etc.
You'd have the the money you have now but 2018 inflated. Two grand for an E Type? I'll have two. Nipping down to a BMC dealer and paying cash for an 'S', because you just would. A £10'000 house would be quite something. You'd actually have to go to the pub to meet wimmin. You'd see some epic live bands, watch the RAC, and cruise down to Monaco in January '67 to watch those cheese eating surrender monkeys* get a bit of BMC two finger action. It would only cost you 200 quid tops.
I'm not sure I'd come back tbh.
*Sorry to our French mates, but we're still a bit pissed about that.

Re: Just a nice period picture
Costa .. what have you been drinking
My reality.. i started work in September 66 on £3-17-6p per week apprentice wages before stoppages... the Managing Director had a Gordon Keeble .. i had to fill it up with Petrol on a Friday Morning as he was to ready to sod off before lunchtime for his long weekend.
If i had a ten bob note spare in my wallet at the end of week = Happy Days.

I started work in January 1966 on a little bit more per week but it did include a "London" allowance. My friend was on an apprentice wage as a boat builder, similar to yours. We both had A series cars and had so much fun. They weren't Minis though.Polarsilver wrote:Costa .. what have you been drinking

Re: Just a nice period picture
Do you know anything about the railway bridge in one of the photos above Costa? Could it be the bridge where the '63 great train robbery took place
