Flippin heck after making up the numbers all season being without my race head and having to use a crappy old well past its sell by date clutch diaphragm the old car has taken the new up to 1400cc road car class, looking forward to some mechanical rebuilding over the autumn and winter. Gurston end of year

My season ended with a whimper, but at least it wasn't with a bang either.

I haven't really done much this year. I sorted my initial engine problems out and am now happy with it. I did OK at Aintree but was my first event with the car so didn't push it. I was within 2 secs of the class record so happy with that considering. I did Shelsley, which was predominantly wet and I found grip a real problem so new boots have been ordered. Also need to lose some weight off the car as it still has steel boot and bonnet and full weight battery which I'm sorting currently. I might fit arches and wider wheels, not sure on that yet.

Getting of the line has been the biggest problem this year, a combination of 2012 tyres and a clutch past its sell by date, I am 3 tenths down on the 64ft time compared to others in the class, like you Pete new tyres and wider wheels should help along with the new friction and cover.

Keep thinking about going hillclimbing with Orangebox, looks good, but can't quite decide if 45 seconds of action will do it for me after years of rallying.

Give it a try Steve. It is totally different to rallying, more laid back with time to chill with your mates, but the 60 odd seconds action can be very intense. I think you remember my brother Ricky Forster who was driving a works supported Nova back in the middle ages. He is still a rally man through & through but really enjoys his occasional foray onto the hills.
Why not join us in class C19, all comers & stragglers at the next Harewood classic on June 1st next year. There will be everything from 1900 through to the 80's there.
