Thanks for kind comments it does have a few minor flaws but when working in not ideal conditions this happens, I am pleased with outcome and can't wait to get it together now. Although refurbing all the parts does take a lot of time. But it will be out next summer

Hi Daz,

It's looking fantastic.
Have you applied a finish to the master cylinders or is it just the photo, they look better than the bright silver ones that are currently available which look nothing like the original cylinders.

Thanks, the cylinders are originals refurbed. I have used a cold galvanising spray on them, they were stripped down, cleaned,all holes blocked off and blasted first. Then I rebuilt them with new seals. They are a bit brighter than original nos cylinders but noticeably better than the bright zinc offered today. Should dull down in time hopefully.

Not done much on the car lately as have been refurbishing parts, finally started fitting some to the car, windscreen wiper motor being one of the first, just have to keep at it now, although have had a few setbacks to keep me thinking, thanks to Andrew on here for the replacement wiper box.
Also hopefully will pick up a good lower padded dash rail at show next week, then can get the column and switches fitted.

Looking great - definitely the most satisfying part of the project.

If you don't get the lower dash pad at the show for whatever reason, let me know. I might be able to get hold of a Mk2 pad out of a Traveller, from the usual source. Also think I can get an early speedo pod with the two vertical lines.

Remember that the texture on a Mk2 is different to Mk3's

Thanks,I had a speedo pod off you earlier in my build, if you can get a good lower pad for a mk2 then yes would take it, I don’t know difference between mk2 and mk3 so no idea what to look for.
Starting to get a feel for the car again now as it was 1998 last time I drove it. Just glad I put it away rather than sold it.

The texture is much finer on a Mk2 and generally has a more matt looking appearance.

Having said that, the difference is very similar to that of the pods.

Been ages since I updated, but the little jobs seem to take the longest, cold weather doesn’t help.
I have been busy blasting, derusting, rebuilding and replacing all the parts apart from engine unit so I can start putting the car back together, bought a few bits from bingley, but it’s getting more difficult to find some parts now, not much to add in pictures but been a lot of work to get this far, am hopeful it will start to come together now.
The engine and gearbox I will leave till last as it was rebuilt prior to coming off the road in 1998, so will strip it down but hopefully shouldn’t need any machining work.

Made my Sunday afternoon and put a smile back on my face after reading it through again........... Don't forget to slather the inside surfaces of the hydro struts, the springs and dowels with coppaslip before you assemble AND the .5" dia hole in the displacer where the dowel seats. You could also smother the inner surface of the displacers and the cups with rubber grease. I don't know whether slathering with rubber grease does any good as such. But it can't do any harm!

It took a long time dismantling all the rusted solid bits on suspension so will be using copperslip to prevent them seizing again, I have air tested the displacers but I do know they held fluid before I removed them so hoping not too many problems. The front displacers seem the most exposed with water collecting down the holes on the cross member so will protect as best as I can.

Not sure how much effect they will have but every little helps I hope, then I tackled a job I have been dreading to do, the dash vinyl, all went ok although a little awkward at times, also connected up the binnacle, want to fit headlining next but it needs a good clean.

Not really an update but I took delivery of my new veltone carpet today, pretty impressed with it and looking forward to seeing it in place,
