You've Gotta Watch This! (Tim at the Gold Cup)

Post by surfblue63 »

Here is Tim Harbers eventful footage from the Oulton Park Gold Cup. Following a spin on the first lap Tim has to battle his way through the pack. It's not the usual follow-me-leader stuff.

Looks good but bear in mind:

I got lucky with a slippery practice hence further up than I would normally be
I was 2 seconds a lap quicker last year. Not sure why
I was 6 seconds a lap slower than Barry Sime

Unfortunate that the Imp jinked as I was going round the outside on that fast left hander on the first lap which made me jink which threw me off

I would have got mugged by all the faster cars if I had not fallen off , so it ended up more interesting

Ridge between two halves of water pump casting where the hose goes allowed the water to pee out.

I've been to watch every year since 2004, and your car looked quicker than any other year Tim, and you did look like you had more grip, and you had a little red mist  , that always helps !, Barry has a small entourage with him, looking like a small touring car team, and even a small bogie trailer of different tyres in the holding area prior to the start, just in case the conditions changed, you had me and Nick in the holding area just trying to "look" important and useful

I lift the bonnet and open the boot, hump the fuel can about and wipe down the car sometimes to make myself look important.

Totally brilliant, why can't we have this sort of stuff on BBC2 of a Sunday evening.

Fantastic effort Tim!

That is what Historic racing should look like!
