This weekend Harewood.... Not a total success.

Post by mk1 »

Well I was at Harewood for both Saturday & Sunday this weekend, or I should have been.

All was going swimmingly until I had a bit of a whoopsie after which my diff started to make a "funny" noise. I missed Sunday but hope to have the beast back in one piece in time for Bo'ness next weekend.

HOT TIP!

Changing your Final drive by knocking teeth off the pinion doesn't work !

Lucky the tooth was spat out and not chewed up. I hope the rest of the box survived undamaged.

Owch! At least it did not take the rest of the box with it I hope you get it fixed for the weekend.

Was it tooth failure or whoopsie moment that did it in?

Thankfully, there is no other damage. The escaped tooth, just dropped into the bottom of the box & did no other harm.

Should be back together for Bo'ness.

Hard to tell, bit of a Chicken & egg job that question.

I suspect that as the front wheel landed back down on the tarmac the ensuing snatch is what bust the tooth, but it may just have been old age as I now discover that the CW&P was certainly NOT in it's first flush of youth :)

Bung it back in with a dab of Araldite, it'll be right!

And if you fix that in a week, I'll bring the van's engine along for you to rebuild in the paddock!

Ha, ha, Clutch replaced, flywheel all back in, pinion swapped & all speedo housing back together. As long as swiftune deliver the crown wheel bolts as promised it should be back in this evening.

This is of course with a huge dollop of thanks to Rich.
