Im trying to find some suitable seat belts, but I'd like them to be period looking. Would they of had a buckle bolted in near the hand brake or would they of had a buckle in the lap position?
Does anyone Know a good place to buy from? I'd like to buy new if possible so I know they will be safe condition.
Thanks
Matt

Re: lap belts
Try Vw heritage!!
They do period looking ones at a good price in a choice of colours, some are plane buckles and others the stickers can peel off to leave them chrome only.
good quality too.

Re: lap belts
The standard fit were Britax 3 point static with a chrome buckle and BMC logo or Kangol magnetic 3 point static belts usually with a plastic clasp but I have seen alloy ones. I'm not sure what year they were fitted from as options but they would be standard from 65 when the law changed. I'm unsure whether all Minis had seat belt mounting points but they would need to by law from 61. Pre 63 cars had the seat belt mounting really high up the B post so it would probably be quite uncomfortable to wear a 3 point belt. If you want the correct ones you will have to wait for them to come up for sale and be prepared to spend a lot. There is at least one company who will make period looking belts which I expect would be cheaper.

Try Quickfit SBS - http://www.quickfitsbs.com/
They do modern belts and period ones in a choice of colurs etc. Think the period ones are fairly pricey though compared to black moderns.
I'm considering them for some rear belts for my Mk1.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: lap belts
As said the classic VW Beetle belts are very period looking for Mk1 Mini's.
I use Brand new 3 point belts which are £60 pair inc fittings with grey webbing and chrome buckles from here:
Scroll down:
Seat belts - available in: grey, black, red or beige, with Wolfsburg logo, 2/point or 3/point

This website does classic stickers including the BMC seatbelt ones for replacing the wolfsburg logos above:

Re: lap belts
Thanks for the links guys. Ive found some on VW heritage that look good £75, which isn't too bad.
mab01uk - Have you got a better pic of them belts, I can't see the one very well in the link?
Would 60's seat belts generally be grey or black?

Britax were a light grey and kangol were black so neither would look out of place.Matty wrote:Would 60's seat belts generally be grey or black?
