my historic..........Oops......

Post by rich@minispares.com »

well, after 20 years of ownership, raced in all sorts of things, done well, done rubbish, blown it up, etc etc etc, and had some great memories of some fantastic events...

it all went wrong last Tuesday at Blyton...…….

im not really sure what happened, but think I just took a little too much curb which turned it round and set it rolling, but it rolled five times (have the cctv for any doubters...) and right down the track, so every impact was straight on the tarmac

the car is utterly dead, the shell is wrapped around the cage, drivers door came off, knocked the centres out the two front wheels

im pretty sore as I yanked my back and had a bit of whippy for a couple of days, but apart for just been gutted and the financial pain I got away with it.

big thanks to mark for being able to bring it back home for me, and sorry for scaring the shit out of tim, who i had originally gone to help with his car..........

fututre plans, im going to have to get a shell, this one is going to go to the jiggers, but even if the floor and blukhead are in the right place it needs every single external panel (bar the RH wing), so its in a pretty sad state

I'd heard something through the grape vine that you'd wrecked the racer. Good to hear that you have escaped with just a few aches and pains. From those couple of bit it looks like it was quite horrendous.

Gutted for you that car is dead, but it sounds like you were lucky and that the safety equipment did its job!

Terrible luck. However, I'm glad you were not hurt anymore than you were.

For anyone in any doubt, Rich had an absolutely monumental crash, watching him & his lovely racer barrel rolling down the track for what seemed like minutes was one of the worst things I have ever witnessed. The amount of damage to the car and comparative light damage to Rich was testament to just how strong his little car was. Not a single seam popped or rusty bit was exposed!

It was a terrible end for a great little car, but at least my best mate came out of it more or less unscathed, which is more than can be said for his bank balance.

I'm sure we haven't seen the last of CSL or Rich on the track for that matter!

Really gutted for you but the main thing is you're still alive, maybe it was the beard that saved you from more whiplash?! ;)

I can't even begin to imagine what that felt like inside the car, glad to hear you are no worse for wear!

On the plus side, that door handle looks unscathed, so you have a starting point for th rebuild.

Wow!
Wouldn't want to even think of being in something like that.
Just grand that you've been able to walk away from it relatively unscathed.
Hope the aches and pains clear soon.

Main thing is that you're OK Rich.

The car can be recreated.

Bloody lucky by the looks of the parts of the car shown !!

Jesus Rich! That made a good boy of it! Glad you’ve come out of it relatively ok! The rebuild will keep your mind off the Corvair at least! That’s one story for the grand kids!
