Re: you cant beat a decent rollcage!
Dito, on the rollcage! and this was back in 1973 before the complex rolcage designs of now
This was in Autocross so on grass with no barriers and things to hit,
and a couple of weeks later after a bit of PortoPower and hammer and dolly work
Rallycross meeting at Knockhill,
This is the car when it was prepared for the season.
Great memories of back in the day, I still keep in touch with the driver! visited him on the
way down to Gaydon last week.

I've been told that it was on its 5th race and they are trying to see what is salvageable, very little apparently. The car is supposed to have cost £35KPete wrote:Eeesshhh.....

you wouldnt even want to risk the engine and box, after that sort of hard stop stuff will be so stressed it will just fail for funivor badger 2 wrote: very little apparently
its going to prove to be an expensive driver error, but the lucky thing is that neither he, or the marshalls where too badly injured

I saw on FB that the engine and box was out and away for checks the day after. You can probably get a few useable parts but all the big ticket items will be scrap.

Watched the tape again along with footage from another car just behind. In my humble opinion, if you jerk left with someone you have partially overtaken, then that sort of incident is inevitable. Watching the 2 tapes gives the impression that no one allows for the fact that others are on the track and that during most of the race. Maybe it's a reflection on the class where there is nothing between the cars and desperate actions take place, or maybe too much Ayrtoun Senna/ Lewis Hamilton.

Too much BTCC is normalising this sort of driving. It's not incompetence...Max and Dan are good drivers. Just so much at stake that they happily risk this sort of incident. I'm off.ivor badger 2 wrote:Watched the tape again along with footage from another car just behind. I agree, really aggressive driving should be really seriously punished.
If people want to go & smash cars up they can go banger racing.
Really aggressive behaviour only drives "normal" people out of the sport.

Go to youtube and find Peter Baldwin at croft in Mini Miglia. He sits back for the first few laps while the banger racers get on with it and then takes the lead and drives away. watch the difference in the car when behind and then in front.
