If you are storing any battery for any length of time its better to connect a battery conditioner to them to very slightly charge & discharge them this way the battery will stay in tip top condition.

according to a batery test i saw in a mag a few years ago Varta batterys are meant to be one of the best, halfords ones were rubbish, coming out worse than a second hand batery.
