Well the timing of the new forum is spot on as we bought a nice usable Mk2 Cooper yesterday! Been looking at a few in recent weeks but picked this one as it's not been mucked about with, it comes with some history, has had three owners and doesn't look like it needs too much doing, for now at least. It's ready to go and we plan to go to as many of this years remaining shows as poss in it, then have a good old dig around over the winter. Needs a good tune up, a pair of wings and some paint eventually, other than that it's great.... hoping to pick it up before the Gaydon Mini Fest a week Sunday.
Fingers crossed a pic should appear here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/21403537@N00/4727834407/
More pics and gen when I get the little beastie home

Re: Mk2 Cooper...
Picked my car up yesterday from leafy Bucks and after a few minutes fettling the solenoid I set off on a very enjoyable drive home. Knowing that my route passed Southam M&MC I called in on the off chance they had a new one.... not only did they send for one from the local factor but Colin Taylor dropped what he was doing and fitted it for me - many thanks Col, you're a gent! These guys can't do enough for you, their good reputation is well deserved
Driving home on standard Mini rims and crouching in those uncomfortable standard Mini seats brought a few memories flooding back (mostly bad!)..... must get them sorted soon. I do like the standard look of the car but fancy either a set of gold Miniltes or maybe Dunlop D1s (despite hearing of some folks having trouble with their D1s) and some factory recliners would be nice. For a car that's spent most of its forty one years living on the Cornish coast it's in pretty good nick, it's had a few panels in the past and will need new wings at some point but it can wait till the winter comes. Apparently there's another history file still with a previous owner, which will come my way with a bit of luck, plus the original Mk2 bootlid!
If this first pic works I'll post some more

Right, it worked so here's a few more...
The arm rests wedged in the door pockets came with the car, not sure if they're home made (they look it) but they're just the job...
Doing its best not to be intimidated by my other beast...

Picked up a set of Dunlop D1s shod with Yoko A008s yesterday and put them on the car this morning, it handles so much better now...
The near side rear overider fell off when I jacked the car up to swap the wheels over...! Still need to fit the stainless steel trim along the bottom of the windows (must order the clips!)
