hi guys, I'm currently bidding on a car on the dreaded fleabay! I'm wondering if you think it is a complete wreck or something decent to start with as a project? Also what do you think would be a fair value to put on the car. From the pictures I see it comes with an engine, but the description of the car is pretty vague. I'm desperate for another Mk1 after I sold mine in September, but 18 year old students are almost always on a tight budget! the link to the car http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :MEBIDX:IT
Cheers

I wouldn't touch it unless it was free ! Sorry.
No log book= trouble, maybe stolen, its not 1960, body kit= filled up holes, Roof skin repair shocking, Drivers door gaps bad.
Thats without looking at the floor, boot floor, inner wings etc
You would need a large student's loan to fix that up.
Here is another it is 1960.

You'd need a mortgage for that one!IAIN wrote:I wouldn't touch it unless it was free ! Sorry.

Re: What do you guys think about this as a project car?
Point taken. I restored my last mini from a worse state than this. However without a log book it does look like trouble. I'm going to have a look at the pictures he's sending me of the floors etc and assess it. we had to weld a new roof skin on the last car without too much effort, My father owns a cnc/fabrication company, which makes welding a little easier for me! I spoke to the seller earlier and they confirmed that the door is not bolted onto the hinge which would explain the gaps. still Im going to get extensive pictures and maybe knock him down on price considering its faults/ lack of log book/not 1960. However on better judgement I am probably going to let it go.
Does anyone know of any decent mk1's for sale at anything less than ridiculous price? haha Mine seems so cheap for what I got!
cheers guys.

i know someone who went to have a look at this car last time it was on ebay, it was a 500 mile round trip for the guy, but the seller made the right noises and the photos he sent looked ok.
needless to say, it wasnt bought, the promised v5 could not be found (and looks as if it still hasnt been found), the 'owner' wasnt present and the people selling it where a little vauge about the history when pressed.
the photos had been taken in such a way so the bad bits where either out of focus or not in the pictures
the biggest problem was that there was a reason that the doors had never been fitted............
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares
