prepping race engine for my mini MK2

currently i'm building my race engine so i'm wondering about the piston ring,main bearing and con-rod bearing clearance.
do i need to follow the manual or i should follow something for race spec maybe?

newbie need help here.

Buy one of the David Vizard books and have a read. You can make your mind up from there if you are doing it yourself.

My experience is that Vizard don't quote much concerning clearences. You'd better find another engine building book. Not that Vizard's books aren't helpful.

yes i've already gone through the vizard book and he only quote piston to bore clearance is 4thou for cast piston and 5thou for forged piston...no other info on bearing clearance etc...sigh.. :cry:

anyone can shed the light?

I don't know if this helps, but I used the Wiseco Pistons site when gapping my rings as they have a nice calculation that uses the bore size.
