Heater hose

Post by Gray »

It is amazing all the snags that crop up whilst putting a car back together after 15+yrs!!! Just went to fit the ms supplied heater hose and found it will not pass through the holes in the bulkhead closing panel, the hole is 16.5mm and the tubing 20.5mm, has anybody else had this problem? is this the only tubing available now or is ther another supplier of the correct size, it must be all down to the wall size of the hose as it is a good fit on the heater and heater take off on the head.

I had the same problem, the early cars also seemed to have the smaller holes in the plate. The 1/2" coolant hoses I looked at had a 18.5-19mm OD, so I bought some 1/2" ID fuel hose as it had an OD of 17mm. Thankfully the guy behind the counter didn't know the difference and put it through as coolant hose, and I saved a fair wedge! :D
