A friend of mine has a gear box which he believes was originally fitted to a 970 S. It has straight cut gears (apparantly B'Series gears?).
The following are identification numbers;
MOWOG SM
Q22G 333
12FA 3308
Anyone any idea what gearbox this is exactly, and how much do you reckon it would be worth?
Thanks

Re: Gearbox identification
its a 3 sync , type b box. Fitted to the 970's and 1275's.
Price, depends on the condition (as anything really).
If the straight cuts are chuffed, theres at least £500 out of the window and then the price for rebuild (not much change out of £150 for parts alone). I picked up a 333 casting,bare for £100 but was lucky. Mint and rebuilt, I'd say £800 ish, but depends how much you need it. The later 4 sync boxes were stronger and parts are easier to get too.
Just my opinion.

Re: Gearbox identification
Thanks - food for thought certainly. Would the straight cut gears have been standard fit??

Re: Gearbox identification
nope, but they were available from special tuning. All 3 sync boxes had a straight cut first though.
