Hollywood Humberstone

Post by Nevsmini »

We have just acquired the very rare Humberstone Mini built for Hollywood actress Julie Andrews. Her husband and Hollywood director Blake Edwards commissioned Humberstone to build the car around 1975. The car cost a crazy £7,087.18 when new, as a result they only built one car . She is on the high seas at the min head home to the UK after spending most of its life in Hollywood. Below are some photos of the car in its current condition (1st pic is when new), we are hoping to bring the car to Bulee this year to add to the coachbuilt display.

I remember working on this car in the early 80's.
Their son Geoffrey Edwards was the person who drove it.
Good luck with the car.

Interesting looking car. Might be worth a trip to Beaulieu after all.

Door mirrors look like Jag XJC/early XJS and the seats look like Triumph Stag.

Wow it’s a crazy small world Jay! Yes his mam gave the car to Geoffrey and Geoffrey sold it to one of his friends and we bought it from his friend. Below is a copy of the title when the car was in Blake’s name.

With the Count and the Humberstone being the last of the Coachbuilders the 2 car will most likely be parked beside each other in the line up, so maybe the Count can give me a knighthood :D .
Looks like it going to be a nice display of coachbuilt minis parked on the other side of the road facing the Works minis. Let’s hope we have enough to have 1 or 2 complete lines of the road. They will be displayed in age order. Hoopers, Radfords, Radford Hatchbacks, W&P’s, Oyler Contessa and Humberstone. Let’s hope the weather holds up.

If anyone has a coachbuilt mini they would like to add to the line up, contact myself or Steve Berk as you are more than welcome to join in!
