Engine steady bracket
Just finished fitting a new engine steady bracket to the Mk1. About 18yrs ago the original bracket's spotwelds had broken away from the bulkhead resulting in a rather loose motor, I made a terrible repair with the engine still in so I was quite pleased to finally fix it.

Now how out of period is the M Machine funky replacement?

That looks to be the heavy duty version as it has the extra tabs either end. It doesn't look too much different from the standard one to be honest.
