race tyres

Post by mike owen »

Any info. on good tyres for my racer? I now use Hoosiers but they wear very fast as my local track is tight and the surface is not as smooth as it could be. I have both five and six inch rims, also A good supplier to deal with.
thanks Mike Owen

Avons are a super tyre and will last a long long time as Guru says...they're brilliant in the wet also.

The only problem I found with them is that they went off after around 6/7 laps when in Mondello (a very tight and twisty circuit). There was still grip, but the lap times definitely suffered in the later stages of a race.

If tyres are "free" - why use anything other than slicks (and wets when needed)?

Dunlop supply to the Miglias.

Great info. thanks, I have to run a treaded tyre in my group so no slicks.I would like to try the Avons, is there a number or type I should look for? Also a good supplier that could send them to me.
